thing about our case is that you don’t have
to care about gambling at all to be on our side

support with these other countries is probably
quite strong, and having them on our side on the
important issues is of very great help to our
case. It can only enhance the credibility of a
small country to have some of the major players
in the WTO agreeing with our position,”
Mendelson told Card Player.

DnKid is the
winner of Poker Stars 6-Handed WCOOP Event.
The Poker Stars' World Championship ended when
Dnkid went on to win the title outlasting 1,741
entrants in the six-handed pot-limit hold'em event.
The event took a long time before the burst of
the final bubble and Dnkid was declared the winner.
Reports from the cardsplayer.com said, the blinds
were accommodatingly low when the field thinned
to the final seven and short stacks could afford
to be choosey with their hands. Finally, after
55 minutes of play, MazeOrBowie busted out when

set of jacks.
At last the marathon was over and the final six
were ready to vie for a significant portion of
the total $522,300 prize pool. DnKid entered the
table as the chip leader with $1,489,431 and spaceMe
trailed in second with $1,082,179.

the next 35 minutes and still no one had busted.

and discuss a deal. It was eventually agreed that
a by-the-chips chop was fair, with $10,000 and
the 14 karat gold WCOOP bracelet left to race
for, and play continued.
Block
on state ban of video poker denied by N.C Judge.
Superior Court Judge in North Carolina denied
the temporary block on the state ban of video
poker, by the operators on Thursday according
to a spokeswoman for the state Department of Justice.
As per the reports of topix.net, The North Carolina
Amusement Machine Association, many of its member
companies and some video poker players had asked
Wake County Judge Narley Cashwell to issue a temporary
restraining order preventing the law from taking
effect while their lawsuit challenging it is pending.
The group sued two weeks ago, questioning the
constitutionality of the law approved in June.
Beginning Sunday, it requires the number of machines
in operation at any location be reduced to two
from three. That number will drop to one by March
1 and zero on July 1. Repeat offenders or those
caught with five or more machines would be guilty
of a felony.
Cashwell heard arguments Wednesday in Raleigh
for less than half an hour from attorneys representing
the association and the state, which is defending
the law and opposed the temporary order. The judge
denied the group's request Thursday afternoon,
said Noelle Talley, spokeswoman with the North
Carolina Department of Justice.

because I had not eaten all day. Maybe I was speeding
a little bit and I got pulled over. I was just

with any offense as of now. That decision will
be made by the Los Angles County District Attorney

In this movie, you will see the new James Bond,
Daniel Craig, exhibiting his sharpness at the
poker table.
In Casino Royale, Secret Service gets information
that Le Chiffre, (played by Mads Mikkelsen) is
planning to raise money in a high-stakes poker
game at Le Casino Royale to fund the terrorist
organization he is supporting.
And Bond 007 is assigned the mission to play
against him in an attempt to financially demolish
that terrorist organization. So, Daniel Craig
has added to the arsenal of Bond the strategy
of gambling. He has been trained a bit to understand
the bluffing acts of poker and the casino lifestyle.
Daniel Craig has liked and enjoyed the game so
much that he started playing poker at his leisure
time as well.
The cast of Casino Royale includes Eva Green,
Catherine Murino, Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright,
and Giancarlo Giannini. And the movie is scheduled
to be released on November 17 of this year.
Jamie Gold might end
up with only $6 million!
Out of the $12 million that Jamie Gold has won
at the WSOP event this year, it is possible that
he might have to give away half of the amount
due to a legal conflict.
A district court has ordered Bodog—Jamie’s
sponsor for the WSOP event—to withhold the
winning amount till the dispute is settled.
The dispute started when Crispin Leyser has filed
a lawsuit against Gold claiming that they had
a deal to share the winnings of WSOP in half after
a business agreement they had before WSOP. Crispin
Leyser is a television development executive and
instructor for the World Poker Tour Boot Camp.
The allegation is that that Jamie Gold had an
agreement with Bodog.com that paid for him to
enter the Main Event in return for Gold finding
celebrities to wear Bodog-sponsored clothing during
the WSOP event. Now, Leyser claims that after
he met Gold in Las Vegas in July, they made a
deal that Leyser would help Jamie Gold find celebrities
to wear the Bodog-sponsored clothing in return
for half of Jamie’s winnings at WSOP.
Leyser says that he had satisfied his side of
the condition by finding Dax Shepard and Matthew
Lillard to wear Bodog.com gear. Now the dispute
is that Jamie Gold has backed off from the deal
after winning the whooping amount of $12 million.
If Leyser is right and wins the lawsuit, Jamie
Gold will end up with only $6 million of his winnings!

Exciting
news for California poker lovers:
League poker is about to coming to your area
very shortly. Casino Morongo's Tag Team Poker
League starts on the 6th of September and will
be held on every Wednesday night until 13th of
December.
League poker is absolutely entertaining and refreshing
since it is not you alone. You get into the tag
of a “team” and everyone’s play
affects every other teammates play and your benefit
and lost depends on others in your team as well.
Moreover, 1+1 is always fun and that’s what
makes league poker exhilarating.
The money out there in the league poker is also
great. There is a weekly payout for the winning
team and the final prize at the end of 14th week.
You know what! The top two teams will get $10,000
entries into the 2007 WSOP. What are you
Hogan gets 10-year
imprisonment
Most of you must remember the bank robbery in
December 2005 by a college student, Gregory Hogan
Junior. Since being caught, Hogan has been stating
that he had a lot of debts from online poker games
and there was hype in the media that it was gambling
crime.
Judge William H. Platt, from the courts in Pennsylvania,
after considering all the evidence presented,
sentenced him a 10-year imprisonment and a rigid
parole period after release that restricts him
from accessing the Internet. Responding to Hogan’s
defense requests, Judge Platt sentenced Hogan
to a youthful offender's version of state prison
instead of main prison system.
Even though the backdrop of the robbery is somehow
related to poker, it certainly should not be called
poker crime. Hogan just walked into a dark future
sabotaging his bright academic and professional
career by entering into a bank from the wrong
side.
Of course it is nice to know that Hogan wants
to help people by talking to them about the risks
of gambling, it would be inappropriate to label
this event as poker induced crime.
Jamie Gold and
his triumph story at the 2006 WSOP
Since the WSOP 2006 event started on the 17th
of July, Jamie had been completely unstoppable.
He climbed the rungs to Main Event by almost doubling
the stack every day. He kept his place in the
top 100 intact all the days among the 8773 players
altogether. Gold was in total control of the final
table keeping every other player at a distance.
Jamie knocked out 7 of his last 8 opponents including
Allen Cunningham who has been the most favorite
player for this WSOP). Early in the tournament,
everyone struck off Jamie as a lucky chap, but
then it turned out to be just a speculation as
he came up with astonish amount of chips at the
end of every day.
On Thursday night, it was apparent for every
one that this guy is no lucky chap but has extreme
poker sense and strategy. Jamie started the final
day with a considerable chip lead and played the
big stack brilliantly to gobble as many pots as
he could. He played more hands than anyone else,
bet and raised more than anyone else, and so brought
far more folds than any other player at the table.
He was aggressive and vicious, and at the same
time sensible and strategic. All the attempts
by his opponents to trap him have proved ineffective—he
either had a strong hand or selected his folds
excellently at the right time.
After eliminating Cunningham in the 4th round,
it was merely a matter of time before he could
beat Wasicka and Binger. Of course, Wasicka will
be explaining to himself for a long, long time
why he folded his 7s-8s hand when the flop was
10c-6s-5s that would have probably ended in a
flush on the river. This fold by Wasicka made
Jamie win the pot with a straight on the turn.
Binger did not probably hold a chance with his
meager stack and unlucky hands. Finishing at the
3rd-place, Michael Binger called Jamie "a
vacuum cleaner – he picks up all of the
pots that no one wants." Reviving after his
astounding triumph, Jamie said:
“A few of my friends said, "C'mon,
there's no way you can lose this." I just
didn't want to listen to that, I didn't think
about it. All I thought about were the players
I was playing with at each table, I never thought
about the tournament, everyday I would think about
my table and I crushed every table I played at
except for one that I was on with Danny Negreanu,
I could not beat him. He was amazing - I could
not beat him.”

| |
 |

|
After the almost-16 hours final game, both Mike
Sexton and Daniel Negreanu were exhausted. Negreanu,
in fact, dropped out of the first open event of
2006 World Series when the Tournament of Champions
final table rolled into wee hours of the morning.
But he didn’t go home empty handed. His
